Q1: Where can I purchase Atoc (aka Topper Rack Products) products?

A: You can purchase Atoc products at your local Atoc dealer. To locate your nearest Atoc dealer simply go to the email screen and send us an email message that includes your name and address. We’ll reply promptly with a list of your local dealers. If you don't have any local dealers ATOC will gladly sell consumer-direct.

A: Atoc provides all of the hardware necessary to install your Topper Rack onto your existing load bars. You must provide the load bars and any hardware necessary to properly attach them to your vehicle - we give you everything else.

A: The mounting clamps normally provided with Atoc / Topper Racks fit all Yakima and Thule compatible load bars. We can also provide hardware to fit Saris, Graber, and others upon request.

A: This is a tricky question. The real issue is "Is my factory installed roof rack strong enough to carry a tandem and/or single bicycles?" Almost all of the factory installed roof racks that Atoc has seen are light duty units with thin, flat load bars that are not designed to carry loads like bicycles. Many of them state a maximum load around 100 lbs, but if you look carefully it usually says "distributed load" somewhere. A bicycle, and especially a tandem bicycle, is definitely NOT a distributed load. The load bars and towers are an important structural component of your roof rack system. Atoc does not recommend installing a Topper Rack on a factory roof rack of questionably adequate strength and, therefore, does not provide mounting clamps to fit them.

A: Yes. Topper Racks will work with any bicycle tire size currently on the market.

A: Absolutely! There is a Tandem Topper model to work with all LWB recumbents and recumbent tandems, or any bicycle with a wheel base too long to fit the Bike Topper model BT63. You'll need to know the wheel base of your recumbent in order to determine which model of Tandem Topper will work best. Measure the distance from axle to axle while making sure that the fork is pointed straight ahead. If the wheel base is 74 inches or less, you’ll do fine with the most common model of Tandem Topper, the TT-Std. If the wheel base is between 74 and 82 inches you’ll want the TT-DV model. These two models are identical except for the length of the wheel tray. If you have something that’s even longer than 82 inches Atoc still has a roof mount for you… The TT-321 is made for triplets and the TT-Dplx is specifically designed for use with the Ryan Duplex - which means Atoc is the only one to make a production unit for the Duplex!!!

A: Yes. If you have the more common "above the axle" style of front pannier racks there is nothing to worry about. If you have the "low rider" style that comes several inches below the axle you can still put your bike on a Tandem Topper, however you won’t be able to use the pivoting feature with the regular pillar. You may want to order the tt-LR option which gives you a pillar that is about 5 inches taller so that your pannier racks will clear the pivot mechanism.

NOTE: Most people find it easier to remove their LR pannier racks when not carrying panniers on them instead of always having to reach a lot higher to get at the skewer.

A: The Tandem Topper is designed to clear most fenders.

A: Yes. Both the Tandem Topper and Bike Topper can be secured to your load bars using Yakima Accessory Lock Housings and lock cores.

A: You will need a minimum of 22 inches between your load bars (center to center) in order to safely install a Tandem Topper. This can be achieved with all 4 door cars (at least ones that we’ve seen) and larger vehicles and most 2 door cars.

A: Thanks to ATOC7’s Fork Forward design it’s pretty safe to say that the Bike Topper will fit on any car except a convertible. The minimum load bar spacing (measured center-to-center) is a scant 12 inches for model BT45 and 15 inches for model BT63. No extension kits needed here!

A: Yes. You won’t have any clearance problems to worry about.

A: Yes. The Tandem Topper works with virtually any vehicle. Granted, you have to be more careful positioning the Tandem Topper when you install it on tall vehicles, but you’ll do fine if read the section in the owner’s manual on tall vehicles before you install your Tandem Topper.
